Peugeot has unveiled their next generation 208 and unlike the latest Volkswagen Polo and Ford Fiesta, it looks ready to jump in and smash the competition. The all-new exterior is distinct at every angle and is longer, wider and lower than before.<\/p>\n

From the front end\u2019s full LED 3-claw-fang headlight and DRL signature, clean lines from the single outlet radiator grille in the centre with the Peugeot Lion, black wheel arches flaring at the sides, and the black band running over the width of the rear boot lid, the new 208 is sporty and electrified.<\/p>\n

Platform and Power Train<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The all-new 208 is built on PSA Group\u2019s latest Common Modular Platform (CMP) that is adaptable in terms of dimensions and engine variants. Even in the development phase, the use of the CMP platform has helped limit the 208\u2019s CO2 emissions by default, due to the fact that it is 30 kg\u2019s lighter than the F1 platform before it, has improved aerodynamics, reduced roll resistance, and has an optimised power train.<\/p>\n

As much as the 208 is attractive on the exterior, the brand\u2019s i-Cockpit design in the cabin features the same 3-tier ergonomic structure as other models in the range. From the visual information that\u2019s placed in the drivers view, the Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D instrument panel display information can be read at two levels \u2013 on the upper digital pad, or through the central touchscreen display in 5, 7 or 10-inch units depending on spec.<\/p>\n

Here the unit has Mirror Link, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. A wireless charging spot is also included in the storage space, as well as up to four USB sockets present, including a Type-C.<\/p>\n

Materials and ergonomics in the 208 depending on region are highly tactile, with the Active trim padded dashboard, embellished \u2018carbon\u2019 finish central section. This is also followed with the compact steering wheel and how physical controls have been uniquely positioned.<\/p>\n

Peugeot\u2019s Drive Assist leads the 208 with semi-automatic driving with a range of driving aids that include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Positioning Assistance, Automatic Emergency Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist with course correction, Driver Attention Monitoring, Automatic Headlight Dipping, Extended Traffic Sign Recognition, and Active Blind Spot Monitoring with course correction.<\/p>\n
