Winners of the awards were assessed based on five criteria\u2019s: exterior, interior design, technical specifications, engineering innovations, safety features, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness and best overall value for money. The winners were picked from a panel of nine judges from various industries including automotive experts, motoring editors and business journalists through a thorough evaluation process.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/IMG_4300-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Held at The Saujana Hotel Kuala Lumpur, the awards ceremony was attended by Malaysia\u2019s Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, the First Lady, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Ignatius Darrell Leiking, and MAI CEO Dato Madani Sahari.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Car of the Year Award<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/BKL_8607-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/MAI-Car-of-the-Year-2018-Award---Peugeot-3008-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Peugeot\u2019s 3008 SUV won the prestigious top prize this year, together with the Compact Crossover of the year. Having received over 60 international awards and accolades as the innovatively modern SUV in its class, the 3008 features the brand\u2019s futuristic i-Cockpit digital instrument display and cutting edge design. \u201cThanks to its inspired styling, comfort and advanced safety features complemented with the intuitive technology of the Peugeot i-Cockpit, the Peugeot 3008 SUV remains an outstanding choice in the SUV segment and most definitely a highly sought-after one in the market,\u201d said Dato Samson Anand George, Group CEO Automotive Group, Naza Corporation Holdings.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Entry Level Car of the Year<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/100%25%20Front_AV.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The latest Perodua\u2019s Myvi 1.5 was the winner for this award. \u201cSince its launch in November 2017, nearly 85,000 units of the Myvi has been sold in Malaysia, out of over 138,000 bookings to date. We thank all Malaysians for your steadfast and overwhelming support for our Myvi. The CX-5 has received more than one hundred awards to date, with globally acclaimed awards including Japan Car of the Year 2012\/2013, 2016 Asean Car of the Year, 2017 and 2018 IIHS Top Safety Pick amongst others.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Pick-up Truck of the Year<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/Ford-Ranger_MARii--Pickup-Truck-of-the-Year-%281%29-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/MAI%20COTY%202018\/RangerICA_08.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It is no surprise that Ford\u2019s Ranger WildTrak has won this award. The Ranger is the brand\u2019s best-selling nameplate in Malaysia, and also one of the best-selling pickups in the market. The robust truck has a 3,500 kg towing ability, class-leading water-wading capability of up to 800 mm and good payload capacity matched with levels of refinement in the segment. \u201cWe are honoured that the Ranger has received yet another prestigious endorsement.
