{"id":10553,"date":"2018-11-05T12:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-11-05T12:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/x.www.carsome.my\/news\/subaru-issues-global-recall-for-valve-springs-multi-information-display\/"},"modified":"2025-05-26T15:18:29","modified_gmt":"2025-05-26T07:18:29","slug":"subaru-issues-global-recall-for-valve-springs-multi-information-display","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.carsome.my\/news\/item\/subaru-issues-global-recall-for-valve-springs-multi-information-display","title":{"rendered":"Subaru Issues Global Recall For Valve Springs &#038; Multi-Information Display"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Subaru Corporation has announced two worldwide recalls for vehicles with possible valve springs defects and those with affected multi-information displays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Recall of vehicles with affected valve springs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The recall for those with valve spring issues involves vehicles manufactured from:<\/p>\n<p><strong>16 January 2012 \u2013 14 May 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Subaru%20recall%201%20Nov%202018\/BRZ12160.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The affected models are those equipped with the <strong>FA20 engine or FB20 engine<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin-left: 15px;\"><b>2013 Model Year (MY) BRZ<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin-left: 15px;\"><b>2013 \u2013 2014 MY Legacy\/ Outback<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin-left: 15px;\"><b>2012 \u2013 2014 MY Forester<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: disc; margin-left: 15px;\"><b>2012 \u2013 2014 MY Impreza\/ XV<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Subaru%20recall%201%20Nov%202018\/hi_XVprod.RO.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The recall is a precaution against the possibility of valve springs in the affected engines may fracture under stress. This could result in an unusual noise from the engine, the engine stalling and not able to be restart.<\/p>\n<p>Motor Image customers across the region including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam will be notified about this recall. Valve springs and related parts will be replaced free of charge.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Recall of vehicles with affected multi-information displays<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This recall affects <strong>2018 Model Year Legacy\/ Outback vehicles manufactured before 1 August 2018<\/strong>, for potential issues with multi-information displays.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomesg.s3.amazonaws.com\/Subaru%20Outback%20%26%20XV%20with%20EyeSight\/outback-front-rs.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A programming issue may lead to inaccuracies in regards to the amount of fuel left, and the actual drivable distance left on the multi-information display.
