The first generation vehicle has been on sale for 10 years in Malaysia, with over 18,000 units sold since.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Has there been improvements compared to the first generation?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1272.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1583.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Yes! Both in and out. On the outside, the design is a major leap. At the front and rear, the look is inspired by the Fortuner, with lots of bold and muscular lines. The ruggedness and sportiness combined is achieved with the additional aerokit which comes standard. The R-Blade design aerokit is inspired by the styling of the character lines in the form of silver \u201cblades\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Dashboard.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Interior.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>On the inside, designers were going for a fresh modern and premium look. Colours of silver, black, grey and contrasting beige inserts on door rests and lower dashboard removes the monotony in a lot of standard vehicles. For the high-spec S variant, there\u2019s leather upholstery and leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">What about mechanics?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1616.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The 1.5-litre Toyota DOHC engine has Dual VVT-I and is the same unit found in the Toyota Avanza and Perodua Myvi. Power is 104 hp at 6,000 rpm, with torque figures at 136 Nm at 4,200 rpm. Delivery is through a 4-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the rear wheels.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">How\u2019s the new Rush size?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1570.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T0914.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s where it gets interesting. The new Rush is essentially shorter, slimmer but taller than its closest competitor. However, the wheelbase is 23 mm more. All this contributes to better legroom for the second row passengers, with better awarded space to the third row if necessary. In terms of cargo space, with the third row seats folded, room is a good 217 litres which expands further to 514 litres with the seats tumbled away.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Ground%20Clearence.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Those looking to get through a mild flood would also be pleased as the Rush has a high ground clearance of 220 mm and can handle a submersion depth of up to 600 mm. The clearance is also useful for over rough terrain as damage to the vehicle\u2019s underside can be lessened.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">Let\u2019s talk about the Infotainment unit<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/DVD%20AX%206.8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1318.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The DVD-AVX audio system is a 6.8-inch touchscreen unit with Bluetooth, media compatible and is also able to mirror a smartphones display (both iOS and Android) when connected via USB. The sound system is through six speakers. The unit also serves as a display to the Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), a separate button on the lower dashboard that is able to display images from 4 cameras mounted around the vehicle. Whether both sides, front and back, or a full 360-degree view, the cameras are able to display clear images even at night.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">What about Comfort and Convenience?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/13%20Cup%20holders.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/aircond%20control%20second%20row.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The seven seater is loaded with quite enough features to satisfy most users. In terms of powering devices, there are two conventional 12V sockets, one at the front and another at the third row, and two USB ports, one at the front and another at the driver\u2019s side seat. There\u2019s 13-cupholders throughout the Rush, and for better cooling to the second and third row seats, three vents with a blower are located up top.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">And how about safety?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Skid%20Control%20fr%20_%20Rr.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/6%20Airbags.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Digital%20Video%20Recorder.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be thrilled to know that the Rush scored a full five star from Asean NCAP. This rating is for both the adult and child occupant protection categories. Passive safety continues to six Airbags for driver, front passenger, sides and curtain, speed sensing auto door locking, Isofix, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, VSC, Traction Control and Hill-start Assist Control. Emergency Stop Signal is also standard which flashes during emergency braking. There\u2019s also seatbelt reminders for all five passengers at the second and third row seats, as well as a Digital Video Recorder behind the rearview mirror for recording of unwanted accidents ahead.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1333.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/Pre%20Collision%20System%20%28PCS%29.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1877.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In terms of active safety, there\u2019s quite a bit on the new Rush. Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross Traffic Alert come standard on both G and S variants, while the Pre-Collision System including Pre-Collision Warning, Pre-Collision Braking, Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control works through the stereo camera mounted on top of the windscreen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\">How is ownership?<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; height: 100%;\" src=\"https:\/\/carsomemy.s3.amazonaws.com\/News\/Toyota%20Rush%20launch\/20181018_T1458.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The Toyota Rush is available in two variants, a 1.5G and 1.5S, differences separating both are only the lack of front fog lamps, leather seats and the Pre-Collision System on the G variant. Exterior colours are Silver, Dark Grey, Blue, Dark Green, and White. There\u2019s a 5-year warranty with unlimited mileage.
