Asean NCAP’s has recently awarded the all-new Toyota Camry with a full 5-star rating based on the latest assessment program’s crash test results. The eighth generation Camry was launched in December 2018 and is available in a sole 2.5-litre variant.

In terms of safety, the new Camry is built on Toyota’s latest TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform, which ensures better handling, a tougher vehicle body amongst others. The local specification model comes equipped with the brand’s Safety Sense – which includes a Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control as well as Automatic High Beam.

The breakdown of points for the Camry’s results includes 49.04 points for the Adult Occupant Protection, 22.68 points for the Child Occupant Protection and 19.75 points for Safety Assist Technologies. Here the Camry scored in all aspects including effective braking avoidance, seat belt reminders, blind spot technology and advanced safety assist technologies. The announcement was made at the launching ceremony of the Asean NCAP Labelling Compliance Guideline 2019 for Malaysia by Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, Minister at Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP). This ensures that consumers are aware of the NCAP ratings of the vehicle they are looking to purchase.
