3M Malaysia’s booth at KLIMS 2018 provides visitors a better look and understanding into their automotive solutions. To better reach out to consumers, the brand has included their range of latest products including their Scotchshield Crystalline Security Autofilm, new colours for the Auto Wrap Film Series 1080, as well as a concept Auto Wrap reflective called Scotchlite Print Wrap Film.

What goes into the product that is an autofilm? With so many in the market and terms like metallised, dyes, discolouration and corrosion, how do you choose what’s best? With demonstrations at 3M in KLIMS that cover topics such as UV and infrared rejection, security, non-metallised film and heat rejection, visitors can better understand what makes a good autofilm. But are autofilms important? According to research, UV exposure is cumulative and skin exposed to sun shining through window glass can lead to significant skin damage over time. This is where the differences between good autofilms and mediocre second-grade products come to view.
3M’s Crystalline Autofilm series provides sun protection by blocking up to 99.9 per cent of harmful UV rays to provide a total SPF of over 1,000. To bring this further, their latest Scotchshield Crystalline Series has a protective barrier that takes more time to penetrate and hold glass fragments in place when the glass is shattered. This provides more assurances to passengers should such occurrences happen.
The brand has also taken the opportunity to showcase their latest colours in the Wrap Film Series 1080 – Gloss Flip Ghost Pearl, Satin Flip Psychedelic and Shadow Military Green. What makes 3M’s auto car wrap special in comparison to other makes, is its pressure-activated adhesives for easy sliding and repositioning, invisible air release channels for fast, easy and bubble-free installations and the ease of removal with heat or chemicals.
In terms of concept wraps, the introduction of 3M’s Scotchlite Print Wrap Film 780mC-10R adds sparkle and shine to car wraps by using glass beads or cube corners to reflect light back directly to the source. As seen in the image taken with and without flash, the wrap on the bike, and the 3M logo on the drum is brought to life.
